We started when our child was just a baby, right when the school opened. On top of the English care, the afternoons brought art, cooking, gymnastics, and even the ride to swimming. We had our sights set on an international school, so we were looking for a place that would strengthen English while caring for our child — and that's how we found SVA and enrolled. Kids tend to slip into Japanese with each other, but SVA is really thorough about this, and our child started speaking English even when a teacher wasn't watching.
They learned to read and write the alphabet, addition and subtraction, telling time — so much, all in English. When our child was four, we tried a summer school in the U.S., and seeing them get by with no trouble at all made me realize it was thanks to what they learned at SVA. Afterward we sat the international school entrance process, and our child got into their first-choice school.
One thing I loved about entrusting them to SVA is that the teachers firmly correct the children when they do something wrong. They explain what wasn't okay in a way that's easy to understand, so the child comes to recognize why they were cautioned — and that became part of their growth.

Our daughter attended SVA for a little over a year, starting just after she turned one. It was the first environment she'd been in outside our home, yet by the second day of her trial she was heading in happily, without a single tear.

We welcome children from 6 months of age up to school age. Spending time in an English-immersion environment from ages 0 and 1 helps children develop a natural ear for English, much like a native language. Places for ages 0–3 are limited because of our small-group care, so we recommend reaching out early.
Yes. Rather than memorizing grammar, SVA offers an immersion education where children "soak up" English through play and activities. Because participation is never forced, even children brand new to English ease into it at their own pace. Our international faculty, including native speakers, is right there beside them.
We run shuttle buses serving each of these areas: Komazawa, Sakura-shimmachi, Sangenjaya, Ikejiri-ohashi, Tsurumaki, Fukasawa, Okusawa and Midorigaoka. Many families from Setagaya-ku, Jiyugaoka and around Toritsu-daigaku attend as well.

For families visiting Japan — tourists, temporary returnees and business travelers. We care for children aged 0–6 for 2 weeks to 1 month. 8:00–18:00, with lunch, snacks and diapers included, and no admission registration fee. Our bilingual environment makes even a first visit easy.
